Here in Colorado, it's a good idea to have them replaced near the beginning of summer; not only are winter and spring harder on your wiper blades, but you will also have new blades just in time for the rainy season.

You should also regularly check the condition of your windshield wiper blades. Take a look at them from time to time to check for cracked rubber or other signs of wear. If your current windshield wiper blades leave streaks or smears on your windshield, they may be worn out -- or need to be cleaned. Try wiping them off; if things don't get better, you should have them replaced.
